Imation brings Blu-Ray HD DVD media to business market 21 August, 2006 Imation Corp has announced the availability of its recordable Blu-ray media, which was announced last month, for the business market. Available in single-layer, Imation HD DVD can store up to 15GB of digital files -- three times the capacity of standard DVDs -- and are useful for reliable data and image storage, including medical and government imaging, photography, videography, as well as high definition video recording. "Imation understands the ever-growing storage needs of today's businesses and the need for a wide-range of innovative solutions to meet those needs," said Jim Milligan, general manager, Imation Commercial and OEM Division. "Today's release of Imation HD DVD provides businesses with a format choice for their high definition recording needs and demonstrates Imation's continued commitment to offer a variety of quality options to store and transfer critical data." Imation HD DVD media, similar to Imation Blu-ray discs, are produced with a unique protective coating that provides scratch-resistance, anti-static dust resistance, and smear-resistance, ensuring a more durable and protected media surface. For even greater storage, Imation will also manufacture double-layer HD DVD later this year, delivering 30 GB of capacity on a single disc -- six times the capacity of standard DVD discs.
Individually packaged Imation HD DVD recordable single layer discs are now available for a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $19.99 (U.S.).
