26 July, 2007

Alternative Technology has secured approval from the General Services Administration (GSA) for personal identity verification (PIV) products and services from ActivIdentity, Gemalto and Novell. The products enable government agencies to be in compliance with the Homeland Security Presidential Directive -- 12 (HSPD-12) and other regulations. ActivIdentity ActivID Card Management System (CMS) 4.0 for PIV and the industry-leading ActivClient smart card middleware are approved by the GSA for Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 201. The company's FIPS 201/PIV standards compliant solutions enable U.S. government agencies to meet the requirements of the Homeland Security Presidential Directive (HSPD) 12, while implementing a system that will enable them to support and sustain future identity and security needs. Unlike comparable technologies, these products add value to the FIPS 201/PIV standard by providing the industry's highest level of security, flexibility and ease of deployment. Through the innovation of ActivIdentity, PIV cards can support additional applications beyond basic identification, allowing agencies the ability to add new capabilities that meet emerging business requirements.
