Sparxent to acquire data integration company, XAware
7 May, 2009

In its third recent transaction intended to enable tight integration of software applications for middle market customers Sparxent, Inc., a relatively new IT solution provider focused on that middle market, has announced it has signed a letter of intent to acquire XAware, Inc., a commercial open source company focused on developing real-time data integration solutions. With the addition of XAware, Sparxent will significantly simplify the process of integrating software applications in an existing environment and eliminate the need for custom code development. Based in Colorado Springs, Colo., XAware has a track record of developing technologies designed to accelerate the task of building access across multiple data sources. Exact terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
"XAware is one of the fastest growing commercial open source companies in North America and we are delighted XAware has agreed to become a part of Sparxent," said Dave R. Taylor, Sparxent co-founder. "With the addition of XAware technologies and expertise, we can offer our middle market customers tighter integration across their software applications, thereby enabling them to realize additional value from their existing investments."
In today's IT market, the real value to an organization is located at the data level. A leading analyst firm estimates the handling of complex data across multiple data sources now accounts for more than 67 percent of all application development efforts. Sparxent will utilize XAware technologies to integrate data stores quickly and easily, addressing the problem of software applications operating in a silo. XAware technologies provide rich data integration which allows data to flow back and forth across multiple applications within the IT environment. Previously, this deep level of integration was costly and, therefore, primarily only available to enterprises. With XAware, Sparxent plans to offer medium sized companies a cost effective and powerful solution that tightly integrates both the data sources and applications layer.
XAware solutions avoid the need to create custom code when building data services, thereby dramatically reducing the time required to aggregate and integrate data from multiple sources. Using service-oriented architecture (SOA), XAware offers bi-directional, real-time data access to service-enable data for Web 2.0 and other integration services. XAware solutions are built on open source, offering both a low cost of entry and a high level of integration with existing legacy systems. This makes the XAware solution particularly attractive to medium sized companies.
