Synnex launches service contract management portal for HP resellers

HP resellers that deal with Synnex now have an option available to keep track of service contract renewals. MaintenanceNet has been working with Synnex for a few months to put together an online contract management solution for the distributor's VARs, and the online portal is now available to Synnex's HP resellers.

"What it's meant to do is help Synnex track and display or promote all of their contract renewals that are coming up as well as assets that were sold without contracts," said Scott Herron, CEO of MaintenanceNet.

The solution that MaintenanceNet implemented for Synnex is essentially the same solution the company offers to the channel, but Herron said the Synnex implementation also includes features specifically designed for distributors (this is the fifth distributor implementation MaintenanceNet has done; others include Avnet and Ingram Micro). For instance, Synnex has the ability to obtain information from the solution about resellers' attach rates and other statistical information.

For Synnex's VARs dealing in HP products, the online portal offers information about service contracts, including reminders about upcoming contract renewal opportunities. It enables VARs to capture renewals in a timely fashion, Herron said.

"Traditionally, the resellers have not had access to this information in an intelligent manner. They were delivered it on a quarterly basis," Herron said.

With the new online portal, VARs are able to go online to get information about their service contracts and renewals so they can work to capture those renewals in a timely manner, he said.

"It's an automated online contract management solution for the VARs," Herron said.

According to Synnex, the portal is already having a positive impact on the company and its reseller customers.
