Apere seeks selected VARs CU
25 September, 2006 By Paul Weinberg |

A two-year old IT security vendor, Apere anticipates that by next year it will have about 50 channel partners in North America for its recently introduced $15,000 (US) identity managed access gateway (IMAG), a turnkey appliance.
So far, five VARs have already signed up, stated Jared Hufferd, vice president of business development for Apere.
We only want to go out and do business with groups that are going to fully embrace our technology as one of their main lines.
IMAG administers and provisions network and application access across the enterprise and eliminates from software applications the names of inactive people who no longer have access to data residing in them.
[Inactive] names might be taken out of the directory but not the application identity store, said Hufferd
This product is aimed at assisting corporate clients in the task of carrying out internal policies regarding who has access to what data, based on the needs of both the enterprise and government regulatory requirements.
Apere relied on selected and experienced VARs as a sounding board to provide input on the design and features of IMAG before it was introduced on the market. They included Corsa Network Technologies, Inc., Enterprise System Solutions, Inc., and Secure DNA.
These founding partners have technical staff with either the Certified Information Systems Security Professionals or Certified Information Systems Auditors designations, Hufferd stated.
The idea was to create a product to solve the security compliance needs that are still out there for mid-tier enterprises and workgroups of large enterprises.
Participants in Aperes Team Partner Program gain access to the tools, information and resources required to use, sell, deploy and support the vendor information security solutions.
The Apere Team Partner Program is ideal for companies that have experience in selling security products and consulting services and are actively seeking to expand and compliment their security offerings with a turnkey appliance that integrates essential identity management and access control functionality, as well as application and network user provisioning in a single solution, added Hufferd.
The company has two participation levels in its Team Partner program -- Free Agent and Most Valuable Partners.
The free agent is a consultant or IT VAR that does not offer network security solutions, but it may encounter customers and prospects with some security needs. A finders fee is offered by Apere for a referral to a new business opportunity.
Authorized partners also have access to Aperes Proof- Proof-of-Concept (POC) playbook, which is designed help facilitate and expedite the evaluation process undertaken by a end user customer before purchasing a network security solution such as IMAG.
The Apere POC Playbook consists of customizable test plans with pass/fail criteria,
Evaluation equipment purchase below manufacturer's cost and net 90 terms, a large evaluation equipment pool and Online Proof-of-Concept lab, added Hufferd.
