Novell is giving partners and customers a chance to test-drive its Novell Teaming productivity tool for free by announcing the availability of the Novell Teaming Starter Pack.

Novell Teaming is designed to focus on helping organizations to improve workforce productivity by fostering real-time collaboration between individuals regardless of location, both inside and outside the organization. Features of the tool include wikis, discussion threads, document management, expertise search, and custom applications and workflows.

Novell Teaming's self-management functionality and the ability to design custom applications and workflows allow users to make the tools fit their needs without requiring additional administrative time or support.

"Collaboration tools are quickly becoming an essential requirement for successfully working in today's global and distributed business environment," said Kent Erickson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Novell Workgroup Solutions. "Empowered teams need to leverage expertise, regardless of where their experts are physically located."

The Novell Teaming Start Pack was designed to offer users the ability to gain hands-on experience with a team workspace and enterprise collaboration and social networking solution through a no-cost, risk-free program.

The Starter Pack is available as a pre-installed download with a quick-start guide and tutorial videos, and includes 20 free user licenses. The Starter Pack program is available to existing or new customers and partners who aren't currently using Novell Teaming in their organization.

To download the licenses, users must be a member of Novell's PartnerNet program. The most basic level of the partner program, the Novell Reseller Community, is free to join.

Novell is also encouraging partners to tell their customers about the program and ask them to sign up and help Novell evaluate the solution.

"Novell Teaming Starter Pack is an excellent way for both customers and partners to get their feet wet with collaboration software and immediately realize the productivity benefits and cost savings that this solution delivers," said Erickson.
