At its VTN Invitational being held in New Orleans, Ingram Micro has announced the availability of several new services that will help solution providers, partners and MSPs offer virtualization solutions as well as proactive remote support, network security and compliance management services.

The first of these services is called Virtualization Services, and is available now to solution providers in the U.S. and Canada. It instantly expands and enhances a partner's IT portfolio and services capabilities to include virtualization solutions and technology assessments. The service also leverages the expertise of Ingram Micro Services Network (IMSN) and Ingram Micro's Infrastructure Technology Solutions (ITS) Division so they can sell virtualization to customers right away. "Virtualization is a huge growing opportunity in the market," said Justin Crotty, vice-president of Ingram Micro's services division. "[Virtualization Services] give solution providers access to capabilities and technology that may not be core to their organization."

Ingram Micro's new Virtualization Services will be delivered at a pre-negotiated rate by qualified IMSN members.

Crotty said that the rate is dependent on the size of the end customer and how big is the engagement. This gives a predictable cost structure that solution providers can take to end customers and earn margins on services deployed.

Also in New Orleans, Ingram launched three new managed services offerings that are powered by LogMeIn and Alert Logic.

These services are delivered as part of Ingram Micro's Seismic Virtual Services Warehouse and include: Seismic Remote Support, Seismic Threat Manager and Seismic Log Manager. Seismic Remote Support, powered by LogMeIn, enables solution providers and managed service providers (MSPs) to deliver on-demand support to remote PCs for faster, more efficient incident resolution. The service also allows providers to lower support costs while increasing end-customer satisfaction via chat-enabled remote support.

"Remote Support is a complementary and necessary capability for MSPs to have [in order] to effectively manage IT assets remotely," said Crotty.

Seismic Threat Manager, powered by Alert Logic, combines intrusion protection and vulnerability management technology into a single integrated, software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that offers clients both proactive and reactive protection from the latest threats and vulnerabilities.

Seismic Log Manager, also powered by Alert Logic, is an intelligent SaaS solution that helps partners manage log data and more easily comply with policies and regulations such as PCI, Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA and GLBA, which mandate log data be collected, regularly reviewed and securely archived.

Crotty added that the services being powered by LogMeIn and Alert Logic gives VARs the ability to take to market a very broad and very rich suite of managed service offerings that they can easily deploy and sell to end customers without the related infrastructure expense they would have if they were to do it on their own.

Available now, Remote Support, Threat Manager and Log Manager can be purchased together or separately.

Ingram Micro's new Seismic Remote Support pricing is based on the number of technicians using the tool. Both annual and monthly subscriptions are available.

Pricing for the new Seismic Threat Manager and Seismic Log Manager is based on the number of IP addresses being monitored within a specific network. Ingram Micro partners who are using Seismic Threat Manager may also purchase Alert Logic's ActiveWatch Monitoring service through Ingram Micro. This 24/7 service allows Seismic partners to leverage Alert Logic's proven global Security Operations Center (SOC) and provide clients with affordable, around-the-clock network monitoring 365 days a year.
