Ingram Micro adds Axcient to cloud-based portfolio
25 January, 2012 By Mark Cox |

Axcient is the latest vendor to enlist in the Ingram Micro Cloud. Its unified platform for backup, business continuity and disaster recovery will be available through Ingram Micro's Services Division.
Axcient's solution is delivered through a hybrid cloud configuration, which provides fast local backups through an on-premise HP appliance, with a copy in Axcient's SAS 70 II certified data center for full redundancy. The company sells entirely through channel partners, and is looking to this deal to continue their strong growth of the last two years.
"We have been building out our channel largely through word of mouth referral, and our own marketing, and our HP partnership last year which led to a surge of HP partners," said Justin Moore, Axcient's CEO. "in 2012, we really plan to expand heavily into the VAR market, and we look upon this as a great way to accelerate our growth in that sector. We are expecting another 300% growth rate this year."
For Ingram Micro, Axcient fillas a gap in their line card.
"They have an appliance based service that allows for quicker backup and restore," said Jason Bystrak, Director of Sales, Ingram Micro Services Division. While Ingram Micro has agent-based cloud offerings in this space, this is the first with an appliance form factor.
Bystrak also sees strong synergies with Axcient through their mutual relationship with HP. And he sees Axcient's SMB focus as providing strong traction with Ingram Micro's core customers of cloud services.
"They also present a strong integration with other partners of ours like NetEnrich and Autotask," Bystrak said. "It gives an opportunity to offer to a managed backup and data recovery solution with them and NetEnrich -- one there's a lot of demand for in the market."
Bystrak said that the opportunities with Axcient are significant even with their already mutual customers.
"We have found we have a lot of white space on our mutual customers," he said. "We have many storage resellers, for example who dont have a cloud practice. We think we can help them find a lot of new partners out there."
Ingram Micro resellers and MSPs can now download supporting solutions datasheets, sales tools and marketing collateral for Axcient from www.ingrammicrocloud.com at no charge. Registration is required. Additional sales and support services including cross-trained technical and pre-sales support are also available to mutual Axcient/Ingram Micro channel partners.
The Axcient solution is available now in the U.S., and will be available in Canada in several weeks.
